Description

The World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) is the global network and verifier for enterprises that fully adhere to Fair Trade principles. Bringing together more than 400 social enterprises across 84 countries, WFTO promotes a business model that combines economic success with social responsibility and environmental sustainability. Through its Guarantee System, member support, and advocacy activities, WFTO strengthens ethical businesses, empowers small and medium-sized enterprises, and contributes to improving the livelihoods of more than one million people worldwide.

Gateway to Fair Trade Fashion (G2FTF) is an international initiative financed by the Amani Foundation and led by the Polish Fair Trade Association (PFTA) in partnership with the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), WFTO Europe, Sustainable Journey, and WFTO’s regional network. The project promotes Fair Trade fashion as a sustainable and ethical alternative to conventional fashion by strengthening the visibility, market access, and long-term resilience of Fair Trade producers.

The first phase focused on identifying the needs and challenges of Fair Trade fashion enterprises through research, stakeholder consultations, and the development of a shared definition of Fair Trade Fashion. It also resulted in the creation of the Fair Trade Fashion Showcase and Catalogue. Building on these foundations, the second phase focuses on implementation through communication, capacity building, mentoring, funding opportunities, stronger regional collaboration, and increased representation of Fair Trade fashion at international industry events.
