13 Feb The Construction of a Kindergarten in Bertoua, Cameroon – 2nd stage
Beneficiary
Congregation of the Passionist Sisters in Bertoua, Cameroon.
Objective
The project aims to address the needs of residents in the Bertoua – Enia district who lack access to kindergarten facilities. Local kindergartens are overcrowded, and the Passionist Sisters currently run a kindergarten in a neighboring community, but it lacks the capacity to accommodate more children. The new kindergarten will provide hundreds of children with the opportunity for growth and proper preparation for their future education.
Description
A temporary kindergarten is currently operating in a building constructed during the 1st Stage, with over 100 children in attendance. The 1st Stage was financed by funds acquired through sponsorships by the Passionist Sisters. The 2nd Stage will involve adding a floor to the building and roofing it. Ultimately, the kindergarten will have 9 French, English, and bilingual classes, serving approximately 450 children. The Passionist Sisters will manage the facility through a concession obtained from the government, and will also be part of the teaching staff.
Duration
May 2023 – May 2024.
