Vocational Education Training Center of St. Vincent Pallotti in Masaka, Rwanda

Vocational Education Training Center of St. Vincent Pallotti in Masaka, Rwanda

Beneficiary

The Congregation of the Pallottine Sisters in Rwanda.

Objective

The project aims to address the challenge faced by young people in Rwanda after completing their education—the limited opportunity to integrate into the labor market and establish their own businesses.

Description

To address these issues, the Rwandan government has established vocational training centers and encouraged private sector and civil society involvement in equipping these young people with professional skills. In response, the idea of establishing a vocational school has emerged. The center, managed by the Pallottine Sisters, will provide six-month vocational training in carpentry, welding, tailoring, hairdressing, and car mechanics. The first batch will consist of 30 apprentices in each profession, totaling 180 young people. Over five years, the project aims to train 2,100 graduates. Additionally, the center will cooperate with the Marek Kamiński Foundation to implement the Life Plan Academy program, aiming to raise awareness and develop goal-setting skills among young people. The center’s financial support will come from parental contributions (tuition fees) and income-generating activities in the long term.
